Yes, this sounds like a good plan to me.

The current version of OmniBrowser makes no changes to the base system, 
only additions. However, in order to be a convenient replacement for 
the default browser, I'll need to change the way cmd-b and similar 
keystrokes are handled. So I'll be introducing patches to basic to make 
this easier.

Beyond that I want do some work to make Shout and the RB services 
integrate cleanly with OB.
