The domain transfer finally took place if anyone cares now.
Squeaksource.comshould be resolving on the Internet now (or very
soon).

Thank you for your patience, and, oh, by the way, if anyone wants to
transfer domains from their free 1and1 web hosting package to somewhere
else, you will experience the same 5-day minimum delay. They drop all your
DNS records and won't let your new registrar transfer the domain for 5 more
days forcing you into a five-day outage! Nice! ;-p
