Yes this is maintained by hand, no automation at present. It could guess 
activity levels by scraping various web pages but it seems too much 
effort right now.

For me, "sleeping" communicates that nicely, even where the status is 
arguable (think monty python parrot sketch), and it is shorter and 
sweeter. But it's a wiki page..
