That's why I use the SVG (scalable vector graphics) output option of
GraphViz.  I have generated much larger graphic files than 2.7mb and I
found the same problem you found -- too slow to open in external
programs, but with SVG ouput you can use the ZGRViewer or Adobe SVG
and get much faster loading and navigation when you have lots of
nodes.  Just my 2 cents.
