But that's not the point. The point is that (at least some) people
have images full of precious non-code objects and the proposed system
makes it virtually impossible for these people to upgrade their
system. (Hence the proposed system is incompatible with the original
vision of squeak.)

Again, it is as if you had to wipe your disk in order to upgrade your
OS. Not many of us would want to live in such an OS, though it might
be fine if you only use your OS for 'coding' and store all your data
elsewhere.

ps. sometimes we *do* want to distribute objects from a central
location - eg. fonts. Again, the update system should make that
easier, not harder...
