Yes, I really think it is that simple. No one has given me any
example to the contrary.
The text editors I'm talking about may be single-platform, but they
can edit documents produced on any environment (mac, pc, linux, unix,
risc os, etc.). They open the documents without problem. They display
the documents correctly (and here, I define correctly as "as the
original author intended". If the original author put a newline (of
whatever variety) the editor displays a newline).
I don't see why displaying newlines is a problem.
