Q: Why do TTCFont Glyphs need an alpha channel?

[squeak-dev] Q: Why are TTCFont Glyphs forms of depth 32?

Hi Bert,

Thank you for your quick answer.
So the next question is:

Q: Why do TTCFont Glyphs need an alpha channel?
Why wouldn't just having transparent pixels suffice?
When/where is this extra ability used?
Can you point me to a good case?
