[squeak-dev] FreeType in linux

On Windows I have only ever been successful installing the plugins from the
installer maybe 30% of the time I tried! In fact, I have had the same
results as you.
But...it always copied the files and THEN died. Once the dll's were on my
machine, I could install just the Freetype package.

Now if I need to do a clean install, I just make sure I have all the dll's
in my squeak vm directory, and only install the Freetype package itself.

Can you do that? You may have to actually download the Monticello package
and install it manually from within Monticello. I have just recently become
pretty good at that if you need somebody to walk you through which buttons
you have to push!

In short, I would suggest:

1. Get the proper linux dll's needed for freetype (can't help you there).
2. Install the freetype package by itself.

Hope this helps,
