So far I have just been lurking. I want to get back to using Smalltalk if I
can find a Smalltalk that has what I want - not sure what I want exactly but
very low cost, a reasonable GUI builder, and other tools, so Squeak,
Seaside, Glorp (to access some Postgresql DBs) and probably an OODB (e.g.
Magma, Gemstone) and the ability to run on Linux as well as Windows might be
useful.

I am probably going to use it just for my own projects as I am semi-retired
but commercial use is not impossible (that might rule out VW and Gemstone
maybe).

Another thing slowing down my adoption of Squeak is the lack of accessible
documentation. I have used other open source software (Trac, Apache, Django,
Python amongst others) and they were much easier to get information about
how to do things.

>2. What would it take for you to contribute more?

Making the decision to use Squeak not something else and then more time,
less laziness.

>3. What are your expectations in regard to contributions?

It would seem a waste of time if there wasn't some feedback on any
contribution, either it being adopted or sensible criticism, preferably
without scorn.

>4. What are the reasons behind the low level of contributions from
other community members, according to you?

Low relative to what? Do other open source projects get a higher proportion
of their members contributing or is it just a fact of life that in any
voluntary, co-operative venture that most of the work is done by a small
proportion of the members.

>5. What would you improve in order to increase the number of
contributions and the number of contributors?

Depends on finding an answer to 4.

>6. How would you rate your sense of social identification to the
Squeak community, on a scale from 1 to 10. (1 is the lowest, 10 the
highest)

As I have so far just been an observer and private experimenter I guess I
would rate it as low, but I am note sure I understand the what is meant by
"social identification".

>7. What is your rating based on?

Not really understanding the question.
