In addition to our own. Now infinitly old swiki it would be nice to have a modern state of the are communication forum to interact on, document our stuff and generally grow the community.

Wikia has a lot of fan sites powered by the mediawiki technology that forms the base of wikipedia.

I got a chance to play with one of them and they are both fun and contain a number of useful features absent in our swiki.

My conclusion is that it would help squeak and its community to have a mediawiki based site. 

The code is open source and freely available. There is lots of support for it in the general online community. So it is something whose code base would be maintained w/o draining our efforts.

It would however take some resources to start and to maintain the content. It has the possibility of organizing a community around it. Providing in that way more interest and more directed resources.

The board has mentioned something like this in the past. I am feeling the need.
