It is unlikely that this preference has any relevance today. It should
probably be removed.

I do not recall exactly what this preference did (maybe Tim will know),
but I believe that it may have been used to control how aggressively the
image polled for events from the VM. Nowadays we avoid polling for events
as much as possible because the VMs can deliver events without polling,
so I would expect a preference like this to be of no interest any more.
