Our squeaksource server has a facility for generating changesets corresponding to the difference between two MC versions. However, that process is very time-consuming. If Bob was testing this it could explain the instability over the last couple of days, actually.

A local changeset counter is not a good idea, because it will be different for every image. That is why we calculate the update number as the sum of all MC version numbers which is a lot more comparable.
