Actually, the influence graph would be:

Lisp ==> Smalltalk
Smalltalk ==> Flavors (MIT Lisp)
Smalltalk ==> Loops (Interlisp-D)
Flavors ==> New Flavors
Loops ==> CommonLoops
New Flavors + CommonLoops ==> CLOS (Common Lisp Object System)

Note that if we are talking about general language families (like you
might say that Modula-2 and C belong to the Algol family) then I would
place Smalltalk firmly in the Lisp family.
