MultiByteFileStream has a non-file-based sibling: 
MultiByteBinaryOrTextStream. It could use some love to be on par with 
MultiByteFileStream feature-wise, but I didn't do that hoping that by now 
both would be obsolete and replaced with a composable stream 
implementation.
