Squeak is a nicely engineered <a
href="http://minnow.cc.gatech.edu/squeak/1823"

that runs on many computers and operating systems <i>without any fee</i>.
It has a great <a href="http://minnow.cc.gatech.edu/squeak/2287"

onmouseout="window.status=' '; return true">license agreement</a>, and
is open source. Squeak has its own unique <a
href="http://minnow.cc.gatech.edu/squeak/158"

A growing community of Squeak developers and users meet here to share

The Squeak Swiki is <a href="http://minnow.cc.gatech.edu/squeak">here</a>.
For those unfamilier with wikis, wikis are repositories of web pages,
all editable by anybody on the spot. A Swiki is a Wiki implemented in
Squeak itself! The Squeak Swiki contains a wealth of information and
documentation about Squeak and the community around Squeak!<br>

<h2><a name="The_Squeak_Mailing_List"></a>The Squeak Mailing List</h2>
The Squeak email list is very active, reflecting the vibrant Squeak
community. New users are encouraged to ask for help on this list.
You will also see bug reports, bug fixes, and discussions of how to
improve Squeak. To join the list, sign up at:

<p>One option on the sign-up page is to receive the list in
digest form. Formerly, we had an announcement-only list with less
traffic, but we have discontinued it. </p>
<p>Some users may find it more helpful to use a newsgroup for
keeping up with the large amount of traffic on the Squeak mailing list.
This is available as a mail-to-news backend, and allows both reading
and sending of messages to the Squeak mailingn list. See <a
href="http://www.gmane.org/">http://www.gmane.org/</a> for more
information. To use gmane, the news server is <b>news.gmane.org</b>,
and the newsgroups are <b>gmane.comp.lang.smalltalk.squeak.general</b>
and <b>gmane.comp.lang.smalltalk.squeak.foundation</b>. </p>
<p>There are several archives of the Main Squeak List, and some
are searchable: </p>

<p>The Squeak list was first hosted by Stephen Pope at
UCSB's CREATE project. After that, the list was hosted by John Brant
and Ralph Johnson at the Computer Science Department at UIUC
(University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.) (We also thank Ralph
for hosting the Squeak ftp file archive at UIUC.) We thank all of
them for supporting the lifeblood of our community. The current list
is part of the Squeak Foundation.</p>
<h2><a name="Squeak_on_IRC"></a>Squeak on IRC</h2>
There is also an IRC channel devoted to discussing Squeak. This is
available using irc.freenode.net as the server, and then going to
#squeak. <br>
