here my translation of the official mission-statement
from the association-articles of Squeak Deutschland e.V. (i.Gr.)
(I also put in on the squeak-ev-swiki).

The finance-office of Karlsruhe officially acknowledged us already
our "non-profitability", so any contributions made to our association
can be accounted as non-profit.

Purpose and duties of the association

The purpose of the association is the advancement of science, research, 
education and arts by starting and helping projects, which are realized 
with the
free software-environment "Squeak". The association arranges public 
scientific presentations in the areas of computer-science and pedagogy.
The association fulfills its purpose especially by
- enhancing and distributing of the software "Squeak"
- organizing conferences, courses, schoolings and user-meetings
- promoting literature concerning "Squeak"
- localizing "Squeak" to German necessities
- helping multimedia-artists by teaching them and adapting "Squeak" to 
their needs

Public utility

The association is non-commercial and its purpose is exclusively and 
directly "non-profit" in the sense of the article
"Non-profit purposes" of the general fiscal law of Germany. The funds 
of the association and possible profits can only be spent
to purposes according to this articles. The members don't get grants 
from the association and no persons are granted for something
not according to the goals of the association.
Insights and results, which are made with the help of the association, 
must be put in the public domain.

Zweck und Aufgaben des Vereins

Der Zweck des Vereins ist die Förderung von Wissenschaft, Forschung, 
Bildung und Kunst durch die Initiierung und Unterstützung von 
Projekten, die mit Hilfe der freien Software-Umgebung Squeak realisiert 
werden.  Der Verein veranstaltet allgemein zugängliche 
wissenschaftliche Vorträge aus den Bereichen Informatik und Pädagogik.
Der Verein erfüllt sein Ziel insbesondere dadurch, daß er:
Die Weiterentwicklung und Verbreitung der frei kopierbaren Software 
Squeak betreibt.
Tagungen, Kurse, Schulungen und Anwendertreffen organisiert.
Wissenschaftliche Kongresse  veranstaltet.
Literatur fördert, die Squeak betrifft
Squeak an die deutschen Anfordernisse anpasst
Die Erstellung von multimedialer Kunst fördert indem er Künstler und 
andere Interessierte bei der Benutzung und Anpassung von Squeak 
unterstützt.

§ 3: Gemeinnützigkeit


  Der Verein ist selbstlos tätig und verfolgt in diesem Sinne 
ausschließlich und unmittelbar gemeinnützige Zwecke im Sinne des 
Abschnitts "Steuerbegünstigte Zwecke" der Abgabenordnung. Die Mittel 
des Vereins und etwaige Überschüsse dürfen nur für die satzungsgemäßen 
Zwecke verwendet werden. Die Mitglieder erhalten keine Zuwendungen aus 
den Mitteln des Vereins, noch werden Personen durch Ausgaben 
begünstigt, die dem Zweck des Vereins fremd sind.
  Erkenntnisse und Ergebnisse, die mit Hilfe des Fördervereins erlangt 
werden, sind der Allgemeinheit zugänglich zu machen.
