I can share with you a [working copy](https://github.com/OpenSmalltalk/opensmalltalk-vm/files/5098120/dropFiles3.27.zip) of my changeset, but it is still WIP. However, I am convinced that both changes in VM + image are decoupled enough and do not need to be released together. Even without any image change, I think that the old X11 event generation, saying "dragLeave dragDrop dragLeave" was erroneous by itself.
