Is there a tandard way to attach context menus

Hello all, is there a standard way to attach a context menu to a morph? It's fairly easy to do by checking for yellowButtonPressed and manually firing up a MenuMorph. But it is sufficient to implement #addCustomMenuItems:hand: to get an enhanced Halo menu while #addYellowButtonMenuItemsTo:event: and #hasYellowButtonMenu don't help. Omnibrowser help

Are there some tips/documentation somewhere on getting the most out of the OmniBrowser? The MulitpleSelection browser looks interesting (sort of like the tabbed browser in VisualWorks), but I don't quite understand its behaviour and what method it decides to show in which pane when you move around or save changes. On the same topic, can anyone point me toward how I could add a new item to the class context menu in the OmniBrowser? I want to add a new template selection menu item (like "new class template" and "new trait template") because I have created a method that creates TWO classes at the same time for an Aida application (A domain model class AND its associated WebApp class). Resources with Monticello

Hi all, how does one work with resources (e.g. image files (GIFs, ...)) used in the application when working with Monticello and in general? Right now I have them on my hard drive and they are read live into Squeak when they are needed. Of course, others don't have the files at hand when working in a distributed fashion. What are the best practices in regard of distribution/packaging as well as performance? MonticelloBrowser question

Hello, could anybody help me to understand, how to use MonticelloBrowser? (Working with 3.9 #7067) I read SBE and it says: " The right-hand pane lists all of the source-code repositories that Monticello knows about, usually because it has loaded code from them. If you select a package in the left pane, the right pane is filtered to show only those repositories that contain versions of the selected package." However, I don't see that happen. If I select e.g. OmniBrowser in the left pane, the list in the right pane is reduced to a local path on my filesystem (the package-cache). But if I deselect all in the left pane to see all the repositories in the right pane, then select 'http://source.wiresong.ca/ob' and open the repository I get a browser containing lots of newer version of OmniBrowser (and other packages). Now these repository browsers always take some time to load and I have to check different repositories by hand to find the latest version. What is the right way to search (and update) to the latest release of a package? Thanks for your help, Christoph

Existing Classes?

I know there are a number of games available in Squeak. Is there a standard/preferred set of classes for things like playing cards or AI for games like chess, or is everything pretty custom built at the moment? The few things that I've poked into were fairly tightly tied to the game they implemented, rather than being designed for general use.

Lint on one class only

Hi, Working with Squeak3.10.2 there is something which drives me nuts. With former Squeak versions I regularly and happily used SmallLint. Now, when I am in OB Package Browser, click the yellow button and select open/code critics I get a window labeled "Code Critics: All checks" which apparently lints the whole image. What am I supposed to do to get a lint-check on one category or one class only? Splitting Excel csv into lines

String lines doesn't handle separating Excel copy-and-paste very well, because soft enters in a cell get splitted into separate lines. What image did you start with. Most of the newer ones (3.9 3.10 were released with small changes files. So it would take a lot of stuff or a program bug to run out of room. How would one go about recreated your problem from a fresh image? ==== To clean the Augean stables Hercules had to kill the horses, which didn't particularly please Augie. You can back up the changes file by copying or renaming it. You can turn off logging (I think) by removing the source and changes file from where they would be accessed (i.e. put them in another directory.) Then turn off the warning via preferences. Next backup all relevant work. Open a dual change sorter and fileout all change sets not already backed up in another image. Save text in any workspaces in projects you care about. Save the projects themselves. Go to a fresh image and recreate your work. You can do forensics by opening the changes file is a text editor. It will be large so locate the recent stuff and save the tail end of the file as something else. You can also use a different image to open the changes file and report 'recent' changes. You get to specify how far back the reporting goes. I have not used this tool enough to be able to say if this will work well or not. This will give some insight as to what went wrong. What is in the changes file that caused it to overflow? Report that to this list. If the changes are not proprietary to your company, make them available somewhere others can look at them. Hi Stephan, A quick look at your code shows it to be "hard to read". >From the outside I had a hard time figuring out what it is trying to do. Actually I gave up. My guess is this has a 50-50 chance of doing what you want in all cases. So step 1: Describe the rules for breaking up excel lines in a comment. step 2: Now that you have code to do the work, prove it works. Write several example lines for it to break up. ( My assistant Puck says: "write really devious examples" By which he means examples that will be hard to break up) Have it break them up. Write a test asserting the the input lines break up into their output components.(Look at other sunit tests for examples). revising for readability. A lot is done to keep track of quote state. I would write a separate method for dealing with the input while in quote state. As an argument you can pass the input stream and possibly the output stream. When it returns you would no longer be in quote mode and the streams would be updated. Once this is done run the tests again. Do they still work? revising for speed Note do NOT work on this first. Work on speed after you have assured you get the correct results. What you need to know about [temp := temp , char asString] is that , will copy the string each time. Building a string up character by character will be Sloooow. So make temp a writeStream of characters and build it by doing nextPut: . Retrieve the string by temp contents. After you do this step.
