Is there a tandard way to attach context menus

Hello all, is there a standard way to attach a context menu to a morph? It's fairly easy to do by checking for yellowButtonPressed and manually firing up a MenuMorph. But it is sufficient to implement #addCustomMenuItems:hand: to get an enhanced Halo menu while #addYellowButtonMenuItemsTo:event: and #hasYellowButtonMenu don't help. MonticelloBrowser question

Hello, could anybody help me to understand, how to use MonticelloBrowser? (Working with 3.9 #7067) I read SBE and it says: " The right-hand pane lists all of the source-code repositories that Monticello knows about, usually because it has loaded code from them. If you select a package in the left pane, the right pane is filtered to show only those repositories that contain versions of the selected package." However, I don't see that happen. If I select e.g. OmniBrowser in the left pane, the list in the right pane is reduced to a local path on my filesystem (the package-cache). But if I deselect all in the left pane to see all the repositories in the right pane, then select 'http://source.wiresong.ca/ob' and open the repository I get a browser containing lots of newer version of OmniBrowser (and other packages). Now these repository browsers always take some time to load and I have to check different repositories by hand to find the latest version. What is the right way to search (and update) to the latest release of a package? Thanks for your help, Christoph

Squeak for the Asus eee

Does anyone know where there is a version of Squeak that will install on the Asus eee? I tried the debian and generic linux version and they dont install/work. The debian version wong apt-install. It complains about missing binfmt-support dependency. The linux version segfaults.

If you are running on a windows machine then you can just print the screen. To do that, do the following. On a laptop press these three buttons down. So that they are all down at one time. Ctrl Fn Print Scrn the Fn and Print Screen are usually in a different color like blue or green. On a regular keyboard just press Ctrl Print Scrn. The button is usually in a block in the top just right of the regular keys. Now you have your image in memory on your computer. To print it you need to put it into a printable document. If you have Word then you can open word and select Edit->Paste from the menu, or you could press Ctrl v. This will place the picture into the file and you can print it. If you do not have Word, then look for Programs > Accessories > WordPad. Open WordPad and then paste as above by using either Edit -> Paste from the Menu, or pressing Ctrl and v together. I hope you had fun with squeak. Dont forget to check out Scratch. Scratch is the Squeak software written at M.I.T. that allows your kids to make their own games. They can even put their own pictures in. Its really fun, even for old fogies. Disable Morph-drag in a PasteUpMorph

Hi guys, again, I have to ask a rather interesting question. Say, you have a PasteUpMorph, inside which you have put other elements, maybe other morphs, or images, or something like this. I would like the contents inside to be fixed, meaning that you should not be able to pick up a morph inside the PasteUpMorph and move it around. Can you guys let me know if this is possible? [Election 2008] Campaigning period is on!

Hi all! The nomination period for this years election of the Squeak Foundation board has ended. We have 12 candidates for the board! Superb! Now we are in the so called "Campaigning period" until the 29th february. During this period the candidates are of course free to do whatever they like :) but the following two activities have been used earlier years and I hope that the candidates will participate in them: 1. Post a "campaigning statement" (or whatever) as an article on http://people.squeakfoundation.org. People can then reply and ask questions etc without drowning in squeak-dev. It also makes a nice "persistent" record. Of course people can follow up on squeak-dev too. 2. Answer the 10 questions we have cooked up for the candidates by a post to squeak-dev: http://wiki.squeak.org/squeak/6029 That page is locked (only I can edit) so the idea is that the candidates answer by writing a post to squeak-dev starting from today. All should feel free to discuss on squeak-dev at length of course. The initial posts (with the answers) will be collected by me ASAP and filled in on the the Q&A page mentioned above so that all answers can be seen in one place. Method category tags

Hi In a recent post, Matthew Fulmer explained how categories work... and I don't really see why they exist this way... I don't mind method categories are not first class but I find quite annoying and limited to use them (there is not even a list of usual categories except in the class side...). My wish is I'd like to define categories as tags so I can attach several to method. This could be interesting to declare private method and classes extensions... Would it be possible and would you find useful to have that possibility ? Maybe we could use a pragma like syntax. AClass>>aMethod <category: #private category: #accessing category: #toRefactor extension: myPackage trait: TPureBehavior> .... Matthew also said we could adopt Namespace/Category like Gulik's work on namespaces, as Namespaces are much like reified Categories. What do you think ? Am I the only one annoyed the way method categories works (maybe another newbie reflex and maybe I don't get the power of categories the way they are...). Thanks Cédrick

Recommended way to print on screen

I know how to print to the Transcript window but what's the hint for how to print stuff to a dedicated window? The Transcript is notoriously slow. Will this dedicated window be much faster? Thanks. - Robert

How to display monticello package version ?

Hi I often find the need to display packages versions that are loaded ... I decided to try but it's late and all I have is package names... I just do that: packInf:=(PackageInfo allPackages select: [:aPackInfo | (aPackInfo packageName startsWith: 'OB') or: [ (aPackInfo packageName startsWith: 'Omni')] ]). packInf do: [:ea | Transcript cr; show: ea packageName]. You guessed I wanted to display my OB configuration... :) Did I miss a method to get the version ? [later] I finally played a bit more... I get the versions but not really happy with it (time to go to bed...) (MCPackage allInstances do: [:ea | (ea name startsWith: 'OB') ifTrue: [ Transcript cr; show: ((MCWorkingCopy forPackage: ea) ancestry ancestors first name printString)]]) Can you correct or show a better way to do ?
