Is there a tandard way to attach context menus

Hello all, is there a standard way to attach a context menu to a morph? It's fairly easy to do by checking for yellowButtonPressed and manually firing up a MenuMorph. But it is sufficient to implement #addCustomMenuItems:hand: to get an enhanced Halo menu while #addYellowButtonMenuItemsTo:event: and #hasYellowButtonMenu don't help. Omnibrowser help

Are there some tips/documentation somewhere on getting the most out of the OmniBrowser? The MulitpleSelection browser looks interesting (sort of like the tabbed browser in VisualWorks), but I don't quite understand its behaviour and what method it decides to show in which pane when you move around or save changes. On the same topic, can anyone point me toward how I could add a new item to the class context menu in the OmniBrowser? I want to add a new template selection menu item (like "new class template" and "new trait template") because I have created a method that creates TWO classes at the same time for an Aida application (A domain model class AND its associated WebApp class). Resources with Monticello

Hi all, how does one work with resources (e.g. image files (GIFs, ...)) used in the application when working with Monticello and in general? Right now I have them on my hard drive and they are read live into Squeak when they are needed. Of course, others don't have the files at hand when working in a distributed fashion. What are the best practices in regard of distribution/packaging as well as performance? That's right. Smalltalk hasn't died. I am fortunate enough to be part of a team developing financial software for many years using Smalltalk. People have predicted Smalltalk's death about as often as Apple's death. I think comparisons between Smalltalk and Java have to take marketing into account. Paying Smalltalk work is harder to find. Here's an interesting twist. Technical people think that technology wins or loses because of technical reasons, but they are usually wrong. if you want your technology to win, study marketing and business. I've been programming in Smalltalk since 1985. UDP client-server revisited...

Well, trying to get the example code working using class OldSocket. Doesn't seem to work with squeak or cobalt. I'm stuck trying to figure out how to do it period, and when the examples don't work, I'm lost... ;-/ Suggestions? Help? Thanks. Lawson

Indenting Code

I was wondering how to indent a whole block of code at once? I often try things out in a workspace window and then C&P the contents into my methods, unfortunately the indentation is never quite the right depth. Could somebody help me out? Kind regards, Ole.

There was an interesting post on comp.lang.smalltalk which, although semi-off-topic (it concerns Smalltalk as a language, rather than Squeak as an implementation specifically), reveals some of the misunderstandings that many industry professionals have toward Smalltalk in general. The main portion of the message consists of a "(virtual) conversation between a decision maker and a Smalltalk programmer." It seems that many of these misunderstandings (with the exception of the one related to speed, since Squeak is actually quite fast) relate to Squeak as well. Any comments? See http://map1.squeakfoundation.org/recentnew It¹s a .pr saved from up to date trunk image and loaded. Contains all games as in 3.6, no agregates and also I put MorphicGames-edc.1.mcz into MCHttpRepository location: 'http://www.squeaksource.com/Ladrillos/' user: 'squeak' password: 'squeak' As we having random cable modem failures and blackouts here, not sure if all was completed as should be. Waiting feedback Edgar

can't find sources

Hi I downloaded squeak and it can't find the sources. In my working directory i have: Squeak3.10.2-7179-basic.changes Squeak3.10.2-7179-basic.image SqueakV39.sources.gz /usr/local/lib/squeak/3.10-1 squeak SqueakV39.sources.gz etc I tried gunzipping the sources but apparently its not a zip file. I am unix (Ubuntu). Any suggestions? Thanks.

Squeak window resizing?

Hello, is there any preference to allow window resizing by dragging the side of a window? (Resizing by dragging window side is allowed in all Squeak versions but 3.9 & 3.10. Even Pharo allows it.) Thanks Lukas
