Good. I'm also cc'ing the box admins - anyone of us can help in the transfer. Shall we first announce it on squeak-dev? It probably means that we want to lock the swiki for a couple of hours while we are transferring it, might be polite to tell the community that beforehand. Hi Samir, I think this won't be a problem, but barring some formal decision process, it's probably best if we ask the box admins as a group. I've Cc'ed the group's list. Do you have an idea what will be needed in term of hosting facilities? Avoid dup floods to the lists in the future

I'm looking into what could be done to avoid duplicate message floods like the one today in the future, or at least lessen the impact. On the Qmail website I found a script for roughly this purpose at http://www.qmail.org/eliminate-dups from Russ Nelson. As luck has it I happen to know Russ so I spoke with him about this for a few minutes and he thought that it would be fine to use this on the listserver. However I'm not going to jump into this too quickly because a faulty cure is likely to be worse than the disease. So I'm carefully evaluating this script and I would appreciate it if you could look over it and give your opinionl. The idea is that this would just be stuck in above the existing line in ~list/.qmail-default and so work for all mailman lists. Ken

Strange mail-loop

hi, I'm getting a mail around 2-3 times per minute over an over again... I disabled receiving mail from the squeak-dev list, but that didn't help. According to the received: it seems the problem is somehow after the squeak-dev mailman and before unibe.ch receives the mail... very strange.... Access to the sqfiles@box2 account and FTP site uploads

I've add Jason Rogers to the list of keys with access to the sqfiles account on box2.squeakfoundation.org to move along the process of giving the website team access to update the FTP site. Jason will then take over adding keys for other team members to that account. Of course both Bruce and Marcus still have access. Ken

Box-Admins Team Report for October, 2005

It's been a while since the last report. Since that time Cees has set us up with a new full server hosted by http://hetzner.de/ which we refer to as box2 or box2.squeakfoundation.org. The services hosted on our previous Bytemark virtual server (box1.squeakfoundation.org) have been moving to this new box and box1 is scheduled to be cancelled by the end of the month. I want to thank the community for the montary support needed to fund these boxes and remind them that the bills continue to appear and that you can currently contribute to the hosting bills by going to http://discuss.squeakfoundation.org/ and clicking on the 'Make a Donation' button at the top right. If it was when submitting the form can you please tell me what you filled in for each blank? For the password just approximate the length and tell me if you entered anything strange (anything other than alphanumeric characters). Also what web browser were you using? Also if you try it again please note the time as carefully as possible so maybe I can find something in the logs. I just tried it myself and it worked fine. Ken
