You (presume you) don’t want to scan the cover itself. Tinned produced the image as a print, of which he made 150 copies. The cover was derived from the print, but overlaid with the Byte logo, issue number, date of publication and summary of contents. Find an original print and scan that. It will give you far superior results.

Mine was lost in a house move years ago. Hard to believe that anyone
would get rid of a perfectly good used magazine from the 1980s but
apparently these things happen. What was I thinking?
