Squeak Etoys and preschoolers

Hi, I'm interested on computer programming experiences with children aged 3, 4 and 5. I was unable to find documented cases of Etoys use in this age group, but expect that there should be at least a few user stories. Little Problem

Hey there, I have something that is just baffling me. Maybe it is just due to lack of experience but I hope someone can help me out. I have a script to draw a square. It works fine if I start it myself by setting it to ticking. However I have created a button to fire the script and when I press it is draws a triangle!! I have been trying to work out what I have been doing wrong for hours and I am just baffled. Have I made some rookie mistake?? Thanks Regards Kelly

slowing down scripts

Hey guys, Is there any way to slow down scripts?? I am drawing a triangle using a sketch with the pen tool down. It consists of three scripts, draw line 1, then line 2 and then line 3 (changing the heading direction each time and using forward by). I have the batching turned off (or on) whatever option it is to see all the lines being drawn. It is so fast the sketch almost becomes a blur. Ideally what I would like it to slow it right down so that you can see the first line being drawn, the sketch turning around and drawing the next line etc. Is there any way to do this?? I have tired changing fires per tick and that makes no difference. Thanks. Regards Kelly

Duplication Through Siblings

Good morning, I have set up squeak to create siblings or duplicates through a script which is activated via a button. However, not only does it create copies of the objects but it also puts a copy on my cursor. How can I eliminate this pesky copy? Regards, Ryan Thompson

Hey guys, Need a little help. I am trying to figure out how to use or (re-use buttons). I have a button to fire a script. eg I have a sketch and when you press the button it runs around the playfield. I want to be able to click the button a second time to stop the script. I have tried many things but just cannot quite get there. Any suggestions?? Thanks Regards Kelly

problem with drawings (disappearing)

Hi Kelly, A simple way to do this is using two buttons one for run and one for stop. In the script for run you hide the button for run and show the button for stop In the script for stop ou hide the button for stopand show the button for run Then put the buttons at the same place. >From the menu of a script editor, you can get a button for running the script. I made a numeric variable and a test that checks for odd/even numbers. The button adds to the counter causing the button to act like a start/stop button.
