How to jump from a project to another not yet loaded?

I teach future primary teachers to use Squeak etoys. One of my pupils asked me how we could load a project from another. I'll explain. She was a little project where students must choose a item and, according the choice a new project, previous published, will load. Unfortunately I can't solve this!. I'm not a programmer, just a newbie squeak user. Can anyone help? Etoys - create duplicate (not sibling) from a script?

Hi, >From an Etoys SCRIPT, how can I create a 'duplicate' of a player (equivalent to clicking on the green halo icon), rather than creating a 'sibling/clone' of a player (equivalent to SHIFT-clicking on the green halo icon)? The 'copy' tile available under the miscellaneous category seems to create a clone; the textual equivalent of ''Playfield include Ellipse's copy' is 'self include: Ellipse getNewClone'. What I need is the textual equivalent that would create a 'duplicate' rather than a 'clone'. [Why do I care? In the course that I'm currently teaching, we've created a 'robot' with embedded 'sensors' (the 'robots' and 'sensors' are created from individual Ellipse morphs; the sensors then get embedded in the robot). The robot's actions depend on differences between left and right sensor values. If I now make a 'duplicate' of the robot using the green halo icon, the new robot works as expected. However, if I make a 'clone' of the robot (either by SHIFT-clicking the green halo icon, or by using the 'copy' tile in a script, the new robot seems to pick up the sensor values from the original robot, rather than from its own sensors.] Thanks in advance, --Mark Nelson

Editing glyphs in paragraphs

Hi, Is it possible to halo click characters in a paragraph down into its glyph in the font and edit it? Alan Kay describes such an operation in his NSF paper but neither Squeakland image nor Etoys image is able to open a glyph editor on a character. Connectors contain a glyph editor but it only associates connection points with a glyph and does not supporting editing of shape :-(. Thanks in advance .. Subbu

distributing squeak on a network

What is a good way to distribute squeak on a network (Windows network at my school) ? >From my understanding there is no option but to give each student their own personal image file but the sources and changes files could be left out. http://billkerr2.blogspot.com/2007/07/image-file-virtual-machine-bytecodes.… If I was going to give students both Bots and Squeak then this would result in quite large student folders, the image files range b/w 15 and 20 MB. But I don't see any alternative. etoys/olpc

Hi, The projects on squeakcmi.org do not open on the olpc. Not the ones that have been there nor the sample one I put there that was done on my home computer using etoys/olpc and uploaded with the tag 'olpc'. Is it a problem with the browser? I have been able to move olpc projects in and out with email and with a jump drive but would like to make the resources on our site useful on the olpc too. When I try to open the 'olpc' project from our website on my home computer I get this message: Reading an instance of MorphExtensionPlus: Which modern class should it translate to? Let me type the name now Let me think about it Let me find a conversion file on the disk What is the answer? Thanks, Kathleen

Interactive Whitebaord

Is anyone doing anything with Squeakland Etoys on the interactive whiteboard? .... we are re-purposing it in a sense with our Kindlab project mainly for use with the Wiimote whiteboard - seemed there was a real need for something like Smarttech's notebook software that was free and open particularly for the Wiimote whiteboard classes & kids.... Curious if anyone had any experience with is on a IWB surface?
