Squeakland still active?

Your website seems to be in need of some serious attention. The "Courseware" video references a link on the Wiki that doesn't exist anymore. And the link to the courseware wiki on the Courseware tutorial page gives a DNS error. When I tried to use the "contact" form, I got a 500 error. Sorry, I can't take squeakland seriously if the support materials are broken. - Jasen.

how to hide ALL connectors to/from a specific node in the Connectors package?

I'll try again: I have 19 Connectors nodes showing in my project. There are 19 x 18 connectors -a fully connected graph. I want to be able to easily tell all connectors to hide using Etoys scripting. I already know how to do this with Squeak, but it isn't obvious at all how to make it work with etoys, despite the existence of a scripting option "tellAllIncomingConnections" and "tellAllOutgoingConnections" I can't figure it out. I've dropped down into the System browser and looked at the Smalltalk code for #tellAllIncomingConnections: aMessageSelector and #tellAllOutgoingConnections: aMessageSelector "Send the given message selector to all the players of the receiver's costume's outgoing connections" self costume outgoingConnections do: [:m | m playerRepresented ifNotNilDo: [:p | p performScriptIfCan: aMessageSelector]] I've even tried putting ^#hide into the script. Is this aspect of Connectors + Etoys broken or am I missing something? I can specify a SPECIFIC Connector to hide, but I have potentially 19 x 18 or even 256 x 255 of them to work with, so obviously this isn't an option. Do I have to go with my incredibly cumbersome code I worked out in my Squeak youtube tutorials and stick that into a script, instead? Thanks. Thanks for the response. However, I assume that "tile hide" really means a tile for "ConnectorInstance hide" also, it doens't work. I only manage to hide the specific connector. Yes they are all siblings. I can't find an AllPlayers tool mentioned in the online manual. Perhaps this is the holdup? I'm using the Mac version. Thanks again. I'm trying to change (hide initially) the connector itself. That is, the line between node1 and node2 should be hidden initially. The specific project is to take a fully-connected graph of EEG nodes where color/intensity/thickness represents a specific level of coherence/connectivity ala this image: http://istpp.org/military_science/images/military_figure8.jpg The goal is to create a movie showing how such connectivity changes over time. I initially want all connections hidden, and then, based on EEG coherence/phase/frequency data, to change the visibility/color/intensity/thickness of the connections as they vary over time. Apparently, even with experienced EEG researchers, static images don't tell enough of the story to be impressive. Etoys and Connectors package programming...

Hi. I'm trying to use the Connectors package within EToys to generate a complicated movie. First step: create a graph of nodes with connections between them (done -or at least, doable). Second step: manipulate connectors with scripts from within EToys. and... nothing. I've located the script "tell all outgoing connectors" associated with a single node. I've created a script with the code ^self hide and associated it with the "tell all outgoing connectors" and "tell all incoming connectors" scripts and attempted to fire it once. Nothing happens. Ok, so I tried a different script: hide. ^ self. Nothing happens. I know how to use Connectors directly within Squeak. I've made youtube tutorials on how to figure out how to do arbitrary stuff with Connectors at teh Squeak level using the debugging tools. I'm stymied at step 2 using EToys. :-/ Suggestions? Thanks. Physical Etoys Problem

Hi again, everyone! Thank you for all the continued work with Etoys. It continues to be well-used here at Columbus School for Girls, and a great source of ongoing learning for girls of all ages! I have another question for you all that stumps me. I've asked a student to try to work with Physical Etoys so that we could have another tool for our teaching endeavors. We purchased a robot kit from Micro Center, she put it all together, and now is having problems getting it to work with Physical Etoys. I asked her to draft a message for you. Her message is below. I have connected the robot to the computer using a USB Cord, but Physical Etoys does not recognize that anything is connected. However, when I do connect them, the light on the USB port connected to the breadboard on the robot does come on. I am not sure what I am doing wrong, or if the USB port I am using that is connected to the breadboard is compatible with Physical Etoys as an Arduino. In addition, which kind of Arduino board type would this be considered? Physical Etoys asks this in the viewer for the Arduino, but I am not sure which one I have.
