Exupery is a native code compiler for Squeak. It produces raw machine code from a compiler written in Squeak. It's a "JIT" for Squeak that doesn't compile just in time but with a little more work users shouldn't notice the difference.
While compiler hacking is normal Smalltalk development debugging often requires gdb.
