[Newbies] Problem inputing the '^' character on abnt2 keyboard

Hi everyone,
   I am having an issue with the ^ character, I use a brazilian ABNT2
keyboard. When I type ^ I get a question mark. I can not find any
preferences related to layout of keyboard.Could someone help me?
