Yeah, I mean *now* not *not*.

I agree that storing it in the request context is better.

There might be some use cases where you'd want to access the native  
request. Mainly
when you use a non-HTTP protocol to connect to a frontend server and want  
to access
information that is otherwise not available. For example whether it was SSL  
or not.
