Your point is worth mentioning alone: if you use an open source mailreader, you can fix things yourself.  And if you use a Squeak mailreader, you can fix things without going through edit-compile-run cycles--especially valuable if you are going to have to fidget around just to figure out how the code works to begin with!

PS -- it's a funny thing about the bargain basement ISP's.  Who would expect any other utility company to be so clueless about their own product?
