Agreed. The list server is as polite as possible.  This post was sent
from stan.heckman at msfc.nasa.gov, with both from and reply-to headers
set to stan at stanheckman.com. The list server did not munge the from
header, even though it disagrees with the envelope, and it did not
munge the reply-to header. 

These are religious wars. I happen to agree with Lex about which way
is "the right way", but I don't agree that switching to "the right
way" would make most people happier. I count 392 unique "From:"s on
this list, and only 56 "Reply-To:"s. That's perhaps 336 unhappy
squeakers if things changed. :-)
