Simple Parser for Natural Language?

Now *this* is an interesting question!

Take a look at the NLP FAQ at
http://www.ltg.ed.ac.uk/helpdesk/faq/index.html and the USENET
comp.ai.nat-lang FAQ at
ftp://rtfm.mit.edu/pub/usenet-by-hierarchy/comp/ai/nat-lang/Natural_Language_Processing_FAQ

The most interesting (and free with source code in C) system I've played
with is ThoughtTreasure -- see
http://www.signiform.com/tt/htm/overview.htm. TT is very powerful, is
available in several versions, and also an API and socket interface.
