I once created a bunch of code for Dolphin Smalltalk that was able to deal
with all of these problems I think. Dolphin Smalltalk is probably very
close to VW, so that code might actually work with only a few tweaks.
Unfortunately, I lost that code because of a disc crash so all I can do is
