Well, large items of text are slow in Squeak. Try copying your large
page to a workspace, and then scrolling around in it--it'll be slow
there, as well.
Whenever Squeak has some support for large texts, it will be good to
revisit Scamper. Until then, it's kinda pointless. I specifically
stopped optimizing the HTML parser and formatter when parsing and
formatting took a similar amount of time that drawing the thing on the
screen took....
