Yes, the data is a Text converted with a SmartRefStream. This means you can send styled text (colors, sizes, etc).
No, the picture is not sent. It is the picture from the badge (actually the picture that was on the badge when the chat was created). That way you can replace the pictures of folks you don't like with Bozo or Goofy. ;-)
