Mac Compiler (MPW or CW?)

As as you all know Squeak is currently compiled using Code Warrior
5.2 ($$$). However Jitter 3, uses a GNU based version of C/C++ for
MPW (Free). This build also supports a non-jitter VM.

Therefore given a interesting compiler optimzation bug which Bob
Arning found on friday, IE

GSMCodec new compressSound: (SampledSound soundNamed: 'clink')

Crashes the 2.8/9.x mac VM only when the optimized level 3 is used,
and of course the pending Jitter platform, perhaps it's time to
evaluate building official VM using the MPW environment and forgoing
our dependency on MetroWerks CodeWarrior

So Comments?

PS I'd like to post 2.9.7 MPW based mac VM later this week if the
screams aren't too loud?
