Dear VM-Hackers,

the Makefile.in in src/ is probably GNU-make dependent now. I haven't
found a better solution (look into it for a comment).

Is this a problem for some *nixes?

Moreover the whole configure/makefile logic would be happy, if it would
be reworked. The directory structure and module generating logic has
changed a lot.
For me working at it is difficult and I've 'just' adapted the current
structure to my needs (what has costed quiet a lot trial&error time for
me).

Any specialists out there, which want to have more elegant code?
