just ran the tinyBenchmark on my shiny new 700 Mhz Athlon, 256 MB:

 '69830878 bytecodes/sec; 2106836 sends/sec'

Any explanation why the bytecode number is that high?
It's not a Thunderbird, so it can't be the onchip cache.
