The unix port does NOT have :-
serial
MIDI
asynchFile
joystick

and if you actually look at the code supposedly missing you will see
that it was full of null-stub functions to allow compilation under the
old system. Since the code is no longer needed for that purpose, it can
be left out of the sources.

If you want to have, and can implement, any of the missing ones then
good luck.

Some variety of platform knowledgable configuration is needed in the
assorted slang generation methods to avoid some of this confusion. It
might be nice to add a simple selection UI to allow easy choosing of
which stuff to build and whether to make it builtin or external. Add a
few buttons and a progress slider instead of the rather ugly progress
bars in use now and it would make a nice little developer tool.
