Should be ok; it's what I build on a regular basis. I have the File,
Socket, Sound, SoundCodec & LargeInts as externals and all the others a
s internals. No problems.

There are two options. If you follow my way of building, then you can
grab
http://sumeru.stanford.edu/tim/pooters/sqFiles/plugs/i686-Linux/Squeak2.
8UnixAllSrc.tar.gz which has a complete src tree ready to make, or get
Squeak2.8UnixSrc.tar.gz which only has the non-generated files. If you
want to change the arrnagement of builtins vs plugins, you'll have to
rearrange the files a bit and do a make reconfig.
