It turned out that the VM I was using had an earlier date than the VM in the 2.7 bundle at UIUC, but whether that 2.7 VM is the latest and greatest, I could not determine.

In short, no.

When there have been important bugs or new features, we have tried to put out new VMs so that test pilots can be shaking down the associated changes, but generally, we save the task of producing 4 or more major VMs (each with a different compiler, linker, and OS) for the labor-intensive turn of the crank at release time.

You can be sure, though, that various folks at SqC are working with their favorite advanced changes so, if it's important, you can always ask one of us to be kept up to date if possible. (For instance I'm already running with my fix for Bert's BitBlt bug).

For anyone who makes their own VMs, this process is easier, since we tend to put all forthcoming changes for the VM into the latest alpha image. (for instance the BitBlt fix should be out in updates by Sunday, and VMs made after that would have it).

Hope this helps
