Great I ran a compare and will integrate your changes into the source 
I've got. There are some other changes pending for Windows support. 
But let me ask what is performance like?

And did you try the multiple CPU, and MMX support? Note however we 
believe there is an issue with MMX were it requires 4 bytes of extra 
space off the end of the buffer as a work area. This of course is NOT 
being provided by Squeak. We'll need to redo somthing to live with 
that restriction or change the code to remove that issue.
