John has produced a new mac VM 2.8.2 as well as a new plugin
VM and now the FTP site is updated.

The macintosh 2.8.2 VM, Sept 4th, 2000.
Since the 2.8.x series of images is stable, then the 2.8.x series of VMs
will only contain fixes that are critical to the operation of the 2.8.x
images. The 2.8.x VM is built using the latest patched 2.8 image. It
supports 2.8 and 2.9 images, and is backwards compatible with earlier
What has been fixed/changed.
1) If a macintosh was disconnected from the internet and you made a
request to connect to a remote host using a tcp/ip address the machine
would crash. This has been fixed.
2) The icon mask in the BNDL was changed to remove holes from the Squeak
icons so drag and drop is easier.
The 2.8.x VM contains most of the optional plugins, you might want to
check this by inspecting "Smalltalk listBuiltinModules" to see where
your plugins are coming from. In some case people have been accidentally
overriding the new builtin plugins with older 2.7 plugins. The list is:
