Well, the Swiki may have more info but I have heard about:

* Basic packages for interfacing with MySQL and PostgreSQL.

* And then we have (as you noted) the newly announced GemBuilder interface.

* Then there have been rumours of some sort of XML based repository from Stephen Pair, how is that
going Stephen? :-) It sounded interesting when we talked at OOPSLA last year.

* And I have also heard about ideas revolving around using Segments in the filesystem combined
with some indexing stuff as a base for an OODB-like thingy.

* Minnestore.

* ...and the image itself! :-)

I also took a look at GOODS and it sure sounds pretty capable - but I have no idea how hard it
would be to implement his protocol.
