Computers in school - OT

I believe Andres has a good point. When I was at school I just couldn't
understand why anyone would want to do computing. That quiet class where the
students looked bored typing all these numbers on the green screen. Then my
brother would come home and happily spend hours programming his commodore to
make a black circle go up and down. Then he would state emphatically that
computers could do anything. Uughh! To me a person that was only interested
in art, music, philosophy, the humanities, I wouldn't go near a computer and
thought he was foolish. But now with the growth of multimedia computing and
the Internet and having read some JCR Licklider , I just can't suck enough
of this information into my head. I rarely get bored with computing. And so
yes, I think it comes down to the motivation of the individual. Incidentally
my brother went on to work in biology but still loves his computers.

Regards,
Gary
