You did't listen. I asked to inspect:
(HTTPSocket httpGet:'http://www.movietickets.com/photos/00727201.jpg') contents
It's an easy to read String...
Anyway, please don't kill yourself!

Anyway, JPEGReadWriter2 CAN read progressive JPEGs.
