Thanks Mark,
Well, I couldn't find what version of .swf files were exported but after finding the file didn't work with 3.0 either I managed to get it sorted by selecting "export all text as shapes". That did the trick.

Check the version of Flash used. Squeak 2.7 could only handle older Flash types (Version 3 sticks in my head, but that could be wrong.) I think Michael Rueger updated it in 2.8.

    Hello,
In Squeak 2.7 I've tried running a Flash file and it doesn't fully work.

It's very simple, orange background with 'Hello' in white text fading in then out followed by 'Bye' in yellow text sliding in then exploding.

The 'Bye' works but not the 'Hello'. Why ? Has it been fixed in later Squeaks ?

The file wasn't made with Flash but is an export from Swish (mag freebie) if that makes a difference.

    Thanks!
    Gary
