I did do that...also, you can use the new "grab flood area from screen"
option to accomplish the same thing.  I was speaking more for someone
else running the tutorial who might not know how to do all of that.  I
think it's best if the tutorial focuses on the script building aspects
and not get off on tangents like the paint tool (which deserves its own
tutorial).
