[Q] Problem starting Squeak under Linux

Although I've been running Squeak under Windows and WinCE, I've run into
a problem getting things going under Linux. I have obtained the source
code for V3.0 and compiled it successfully under RedHat 6.2 (upgraded to
2.2.19 kernel). I also have the platform-independent version of the 3.0
.image and .changes and V3 sources files. In running squeak, I get a
message saying:

"This interpreter (vers. 6502 cannot read image file (vers. 1075154768
Hit CR to quit"

Env. variable is pointing correctly and permissions are OK for all
relevant files. I've also tried the Helio-01 versions of the .image and
.changes files, which I've already run under Windows and iPaq/WinCE, and
get the same error.

Can someone help give me a clue to proceeding? Thanks.

Ted
