Some things I really like from these:
- A tree view of the categories (of course) as on
http://py.vaults.ca/apyllo.py?a=tree
- Possibility to see latest/recent/updates of some kind.
- Ability to "suggest" categories
- Ability to at least have embedded links in description/summary etc.

Some things I would like to have also:
- A textual log describing what is happening in the map in detail.
