The problem is that the jitter never really got finished...

there is an old (3.0 for linux, 3.2 for macos9) version of J3 at:
 http://www.ira.uka.de/~marcus/Squeak/j3/
But this is *not* a production-quality vm. (especially the
X86 version has some bugs).
